City Sounds is proud to be a supporter of local art and local artists. Here are the talented creators who designed pianos for the 2018 season.
Jacqueline J Hudson
Born and raised in Des Moines, IA. and a graduate of Grand View University with BA's in Visual Arts, Graphic Design, and Creative & Performing Arts. As a professional artist for thirteen years she has worked both independently and collaboratively as a painter, illustrator, muralist and designer.
Sommer Kibbee & Assistant Tiffany Thomas
Sommer is the proud owner of the Art Junkie Studio in Newton, Iowa where she teaches and inspire budding artists of all ages every single day in both private and group settings. She is always teaching students to "be a part of something bigger than themselves" through their creativity and passion.
Brent Houzenga
This New Orleans-based painter and musician earned his B.A. in printmaking from Western Illinois and his MFA from the University of New Orleans. His art has graced the walls of some of the top galleries in Chicago, Kansas City, Washington D.C., Portland, LA, Austin, Miami, and New Orleans.
Saf Lee Evans
Saf is a full-time professional painter residing in Des Moines. She studied fine art and photography at a tertiary level in Australia, and recently immigrated to the USA after marrying her wife. Her work consists of dynamic, color-intense landscapes that are finished with metallic embellishments.
Maggie Douglas
Maggie is a Des Moines local, graphic designer and part-time painter. Her medium is mainly acrylic paint with some multimedia elements. She creates squiggles and blobs as a representations of the world around her. Nature and topography both play a large role in influencing her work with vibrant colors, organic patterns and delicate line work.
Laura Palmer
An Iowan and an Illustrator, Laura Palmer creates whimsical illustrations with markers and wit. In the past few years, Laura worked on over 300 custom illustration projects including: baby announcements, watercolor paintings of 40 personal landmarks, illustrations that appeared in Midwest Living and Better Homes and Gardens Magazines.
Heather Kindt
Heather is a self taught artist who loves working in art journals of many different shapes and sizes. Her work and instructions have been published in over a dozen articles in Art Journaling and other magazines. With some tips and tricks plus an adventurous spirit, anyone can find their style and create beauty in a journal.
